Kano State Government announces relaxation of the curfew

Date:

The Kano State Government has announced a relaxation of the 24-hour curfew that was previously in place.

The Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Haruna Isah Dederi, made the announcement on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Dederi stated that the curfew will now only be in effect from 5pm to 12pm, allowing Muslim residents to attend Friday prayers.

The initial 24-hour curfew had been imposed by the state authorities in response to recent security issues and unrest.

However, after reviewing the situation, the government has decided to ease the restrictions to provide more freedom of movement and accommodate religious observances during certain parts of the day.

This adjustment to the curfew hours reflects the government’s attempt to balance public safety concerns with meeting the needs of Kano State’s citizens.

He further added, “We pray that God will continue to protect us in all our endeavours.”

The initial 24-hour curfew was put in place after nationwide protests intensified into looting and vandalism of public and private properties in the state.
