Jameson, an Irish whiskey brand, has announced plans to eliminate outer packaging to reduce its carbon footprint.
In a statement, the company highlighted this as a significant milestone in its sustainability journey. Jameson, part of Pernod Ricard Nigeria, is making this move to minimize waste and lessen its environmental impact. The elimination of carton casing will significantly cut down on the use of paper and cardboard, leading to a more eco-friendly packaging solution. This change aligns with Jameson’s commitment to environmental responsibility by reducing waste and conserving natural resources.
Michael Ehindero, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Nigeria, commented: “We are aware of the environmental impact of our activities. Removing the carton is a further demonstration of our commitment to protecting the environment through sustainable practices. We continuously explore ways to reduce our carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly practices across our operations.”
Ehindero added, “This initiative is part of Pernod Ricard Nigeria’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes reducing energy consumption, waste, and emissions across all its brands. We are dedicated to making a positive environmental impact and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria. By collaborating with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders, Jameson aims to create a more sustainable future for generations to come.”
