The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, has disclosed the date for the forthcoming local government elections in Ogun State.
According to Osibodu’s announcement in Abeokuta to journalists, the elections are slated for Saturday, November 16, 2024. He revealed that the guidelines for the electoral process will be unveiled on Thursday, August 8, 2024, along with a stakeholders’ meeting.
Campaign activities by political parties are set to kick off the following day, Friday, August 9, 2024.
The statement further added, “The political parties are also scheduled to hold their party primaries between Monday, August 26 to Monday, September 9, 2024.”
Mr. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, refuted claims last month about the elections being scheduled for October 26, 2024.
The outgoing local government officials in Ogun State concluded their tenure just a week ago.
