Today, Tuesday, a private meeting is scheduled between the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and top security leaders nationwide.
While the meeting’s purpose is not public, sources suggest it will concentrate on enforcing President Bola Tinubu’s directive to suppress ongoing protests.
This gathering, set at Defence Headquarters, will include key figures like heads of intelligence agencies such as DSS, NIA, DIA, and the Inspector-General of Police.
Moreover, the meeting will see the attendance of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
Leaders from Correctional Services, Immigration, Customs, NSCDC, and other paramilitary groups have also received invitations.
A security source stated, “The meeting will start at any moment from now. It is a strategic meeting on the implementation of the order given by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”
Following President Tinubu’s cancellation of Monday’s Federal Executive Council meeting, he called for a gathering with all Service Chiefs to address the growing protests and the emergence of Russian flags in cities like Kano and Kaduna, raising worries about foreign involvement.
The police have detained numerous persons linked to the distribution of Russian flags.
