Senator Shehu Sani has claimed that the display of Russian flags by protesters in Kano, Zamfara, and Kaduna states was a deliberate strategy aimed at destabilizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Videos circulating on social media depicted protesters waving Russian flags and advocating for military intervention in Nigeria.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s program on Tuesday, Sani expressed his views on the situation, suggesting that certain individuals were orchestrating these actions with the intent of overthrowing the government.
The former activist-turned politician stated, “A day before the last protest, money was shared to the youths, and Russian flags were also shared.
“That shows that the whole intent of the protest is not simply about the policies and programmes of the government.
“There was an attempt to create an atmosphere where there would be an overthrow of the government.
He added, “When you have this kind of situation, you will see that someone is writing a script for anarchy, lawlessness, and disorder. It is incumbent for someone like us to speak.”
