Coronation Merchant Bank appoints Paul Abiagam as acting CEO

Date:

Coronation Merchant Bank has appointed Paul Abiagam as its acting Managing Director and CEO, effective immediately. Abiagam, formerly the bank’s Deputy Managing Director, brings a wealth of experience in corporate, commercial, and consumer banking, with a focus on strategic business development and wealth management.

Babatunde Folawiyo, Chairman of Coronation Merchant Bank, praised Abiagam as a proven leader with the strategic acumen and expertise to drive the bank’s growth. Abiagam’s appointment aligns with the bank’s phased leadership transition plan, following the departure of Banjo Adegbohungbe.

With over two decades of experience in the financial services industry, Abiagam has built a reputation for leading high-performing teams and driving significant transformations. His expertise spans finance, risk management, and operations, and he has developed cutting-edge insights that propel sustainable profits.

Before joining Coronation Merchant Bank in 2023, Abiagam held senior roles at Guaranty Trust Pension Managers Ltd and Guaranty Trust Bank. He is an alumnus of the University of Benin and Lagos Business School, and a fellow of several professional institutions, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in the UK.
