Soldiers in Kurmin-Kare village, Kaduna State, on Wednesday, August 7, fatally shot two alleged bandit informants. The troops, who were on motorcycles, confiscated a motorcycle and drugs from the suspects.
An unnamed community leader revealed that the incident occurred around 9 am as the soldiers pursued the two individuals.
The community leaders noted that the troops had been pursuing the suspects for some time, with the suspects consistently managing to evade capture.
He stated, “It had been long that the troops had been trailing the two suspects as they always escaped whenever the troops got information of their location, until this morning, while on their way to the SCC village market on a motorcycle when they encountered the troops.”
Confirming the occurrence, a member of the local vigilante group in the vicinity, who introduced himself as Dahiru, mentioned that the informants for the bandits typically traveled from Kagarko to Katar for their activities.
Dahiru further highlighted that occasionally, these suspects would extend their movements to Jere and the SCC village markets, where they shared information with the bandits regarding individuals, particularly herders selling their cattle.
