Jibrin Ibrahim, a Political Science professor and ex-director of the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD), detailed the reasons behind the ongoing protests in Nigeria.
While speaking on Channels TV’s Politics today, he highlighted that the current government’s inability to fulfill its commitments to the populace has led to a breakdown in governance in Nigeria.
Additionally, Ibrahim mentioned that rising inflation has resulted in widespread hunger among Nigerians nationwide.
He said, “When you are told continuously that you will see them and you wait for weeks, months and a year and nothing is coming. You know that what you are told is just a narrative not based on reality.
Ibrahim noted that there is significant discontent among Nigerians towards the government, evident in the recent actions taken by the populace.
“That is why Nigerians are very upset. They are very angry. They are being deceived regularly and systematically by a government that feels that it can tell stories and we survive.
He added, “We refuse to do what we need to do but we survive because we tell stories that will cover up. And Nigerians said no you cannot tell stories.”
