FG lifts suspension on Arik Air operations

Date:

The Nigerian government has reinstated Arik Air’s operations after a brief suspension. Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, made the announcement on social media, stating that the conflict between Arik Air and Atlas Petroleum has been resolved.

The resolution, facilitated by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo and NCAA Director-General Capt. Chris Najomo, allows Arik Air to resume flights immediately. The priority remains ensuring safe and secure air travel for all passengers.

The development follows a dispute that led to the grounding of Arik Air’s planes on July 30, due to a $2.5 million debt owed to Atlas Petroleum. The move had affected Chevron’s operations and sparked concerns among aviation unions, who called for the embargo to be lifted to ease passenger frustration and address challenges in the air travel sector.
