Gunna’s introduction to Young Thug’s inner circle was made possible by Keith “King” Troup, a respected member of the community who sadly passed away in December 2015.

This connection led to Gunna collaborating with Young Thug on the song “Floyd Mayweather”, which also featured Travis Scott and Gucci Mane. The song was included in Thug’s mixtape Jeffery.

CAREER

Gunna’s first mixtape, Drip Season, was released on October 14, 2016, under YSL Records. The mixtape featured other YSL members such as Young Thug and Lil Duke.

He followed up with Drip Season 2 in May 2017, collaborating with prominent Atlanta and YSL artists like Young Thug, Playboi Carti, and Offset.

One of the tracks from the mixtape, “YSL,” even made it onto a radio station in the popular video game “Grand Theft Auto.”

In November 2017, Gunna released his debut EP, Drip or Drown, which was entirely produced by his close friend Wheezy. The only featured artist on the EP was Young Thug.

On February 2, 2018, Gunna dropped his commercial mixtape Drip Season 3, which included guest features from notable artists like Lil Durk, Nav, and Lil Yachty.

Gunna’s third studio album, DS4Ever, was released on January 7, 2022, and marked the conclusion of the Drip Season series. It featured various artists.

Gunna released the song “Bread & Butter” five months after being released from jail, addressing allegations of snitching on the YSL gang.

He also dropped a new album titled A Gift & A Curse the day after his 30th birthday.

In April 2024, Gunna announced the title of his fifth studio album after unveiling the song “Prada Dem” with Offset.
