President Tinubu calls for an urgent meeting at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has called for an urgent session of the Council of State today, set to take place at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

This decision follows the nation’s ongoing economic challenges and the recent series of demonstrations that led to casualties and destruction of property.

The Council of State, composed of eminent figures including former Presidents, Chief Justices, current governors, and high-ranking federal officials, serves as an advisory body.

This meeting serves as an avenue for open discussions on the nation’s issues and potential solutions. Members of the Council can provide advice to the current government based on their experiences in navigating economic challenges, political unrest, and societal transformations during their terms in office.

This gathering follows a gap of 18 months since the last meeting held on February 10, 2023, under the leadership of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

During that session, the council discussed critical national issues such as the arrangements for the 2023 elections, the implementation of the new naira currency policy, and the fuel shortages that were impacting the country at that period.
