The Bauchi Emirate Council has taken away Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s traditional title. This happened because Senator Umar, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reportedly disrespected and criticized Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
During a recent media session, Senator Umar, who held the title of ‘Mandarin Bauchi’, accused Governor Mohammed of diverting aid items provided by the federal government led by the APC.
The Senator asserted that crucial resources intended to ease financial struggles in the state were reportedly sold by the state government instead of being given to the citizens.
In a letter dated August 14, 2024, the Bauchi Emirate Council explained that the decision to revoke the title came after a meeting held on Wednesday to address Senator Umar’s purported misconduct.
The council decided to strip him of his customary position in the emirate, stating that his actions went against the principles and customs cherished by the Bauchi Emirate.
