Two people died and one person got seriously hurt because of a flood caused by heavy rain that lasted a long time in Dalmari community in Tarmasuwa, Gamawa LGA of Bauchi State.
The village head of Tarmasuwa, Idi Garba, confirmed to AIT that the incident happened on Thursday night due to the heavy rain.
The flood alert issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency this year captured Gamawa Local Government and neighboring councils such as Shira, Giade, and Katagum in Bauchi North Senatorial District.
Sadly, the recent flooding claimed the lives of several individuals, including a 16-year-old boy whose sleeping quarters collapsed, although his brother was rescued alive but injured. Additionally, an elderly man in another apartment lost his life as numerous houses and properties were destroyed in the calamity.
In light of this tragedy, Idi has made a plea to the Government and affluent individuals to extend assistance to those affected. Many people have been left homeless, with their food supplies and valuable possessions washed away or damaged by the flood.
The situation is dire, and support from the authorities and the community is crucial in helping these individuals recover from the devastation.
