Nollywood filmmaker Seun Egbegbe, who was released from prison in 2022 after serving time, has spoken out about his experiences while in detention, sharing his story and reflections on the period he spent behind bars.
The Nollywood filmmaker, shared his prison experiences on the “Talk to B” show with Biola Bayo.
He admitted to past mistakes but denied ever taking a life. He mentioned encountering notable figures like Ex-Governor Fayose and Mompha in prison. Due to the COVID pandemic, he revealed that they didn’t appear in court in 2020.
Egbegbe expressed gratitude to the Redeemed Christian Church of God for providing food for him and 3000 inmates every Sunday.
He also advised people to face the consequences of their actions and flee from crime.
“I have done a lot of dirty things in the past but I have never k!lled someone. Famous people were brought to the cell where I was, including ex-Governor Fayose, former INEC chairman, Mompha, etc. In 2020, during COVID, we didn’t appear in court throughout the year. I will advise everyone to flee from cr!me. The Redeemed Church really tried for us in prison. Throughout my stay there, they brought jollof rice, two meat and bottled water each every Sunday for over 3000 inmates”.
Seun Egbegbe, whose real name is Olajide Kareem, was convicted of fraud in 2017 and sentenced to six years and eight months in prison for scamming over 30 bureau de change operators in Lagos between 2015 and 2017.
He was released from prison on October 12, 2022, after serving his sentence.
Seun Egbegbe reflected that his time in prison was transformative, making him a better person.
He credited his experiences behind bars for leading him to dedicate his life to Jesus Christ, which he considers his greatest accomplishment, and has brought about positive change in him.
