Oxlade opened up on a podcast with Joey Akan about his experience in rehab, triggered by a leaked intimate tape.
He clarified that his decision to seek help wasn’t due to public backlash, but rather his mother’s disappointment.
During his time in rehab, Oxlade disconnected from the world, surrendering his phone and social media accounts, and had no contact with anyone for a period.
In February 2022, Oxlade faced intense scrutiny after a private video of him with a woman surfaced on Snapchat, leading to a lawsuit seeking N20 million in damages.
He subsequently issued a sincere apology, acknowledging that he’s mindful of his public image and not one to share personal matters publicly, showing remorse for the incident.
Oxlade faced legal consequences for his actions, with Justice Olalekan Oresanya ordering him to pay N5 million in damages, condemning his behavior as “despicable” and “classless”.
In an interview, Oxlade shared the far-reaching impact of the scandal, including lost multimillion-naira deals, blackmail, and emotional distress that affected his family, particularly his grandmother.
He admitted to struggling with the aftermath, entering a dark phase, and eventually seeking help at a UK rehab facility, but ultimately emerged with a valuable lesson learned.
