Paulo Okoye, a Nigerian show promoter, has come to Davido’s defense, supporting his statement that Africa’s economy is in shambles.
Davido reportedly warned Black Americans against relocating to Africa, citing the continent’s struggling economy. He clarified that his intention was not to disparage Africa, but rather to highlight its positive aspects while acknowledging its challenges.
Davido’s comments sparked widespread criticism, with many taking issue with his blunt assessment of Africa’s economic state.
Now Paulo Okoye has jumped to Davido’s defense, telling critics to leave him alone and agreeing that Davido spoke the truth about Africa’s economic struggles. Paulo highlighted Nigeria’s dire economic situation, citing the departure of global companies and the significant losses faced by local businesses.
“Please make una leave Davido alone, mad people.
Davido spoke the truth Nigeria’s current economic state is so bad. With global companies leaving and local businesses facing significant losses, it’s clear we are facing challenges. Let’s acknowledge the reality and work towards a better future. God bless Nigeria”.
Reno Omokri, a former aide to Goodluck Jonathan, recently called out Davido for his comments on Africa’s economy. Omokri accused Davido of lacking patriotism and ignorance, pointing out that Wizkid’s recent album, Morayo, broke streaming records on Spotify Nigeria.
Omokri suggested that Davido could learn from Rihanna, who consistently promotes her home country of Barbados using her fame.
Nymat, a presenter on TVC’s “Your View,” criticized Davido for speaking negatively about Nigeria, questioning what contributions he had made to the masses. She noted that American celebrities tend to be more patriotic and avoid criticizing their country in front of foreigners.
Akashat also cautioned Davido to be more mindful of his words, particularly when it comes to Nigeria, the country that has enabled his rise to fame.
