Kaduna State Government has expressed concerns over the high rate of children including those with disabilities that does not attend school.
He noted that it was a challenge to inclusive education across the state. It was during the Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) Start Up Workshop on Monday, that Governor Uba Sani made this statement.
He said, “We set out to tackle the key challenges in the educational sector in Kaduna State in six ways: improving access, building and rehabilitating education infrastructure to ensure conducive learning environment; building capacity of teachers, harnessing the capacity of ICT to improve access, quality and management of education, prioritising girl-child education, and strengthening security in the state.”
He further made it known that hi administration built 62 new secondary schools, comprising 39 junior and 23 senior secondary schools, across the three senatorial zones. This is to ensure the educational growth in the state.
Also, two thousand (2000) teachers have been recruited for the new schools. The Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) has recorded series of achievements in the section of giving quality education.
Governor Uba lamented, “Our administration is making steady progress in improving access to education, infrastructure and quality of teaching, but the number of children who are out of school remains a major concern to us.
“We are determined to decisively tackle the problem on a larger scale and chart the path to a better future for our poor, vulnerable and underserved children.”
