The Kebbi State government has declared today, Friday, August 30, 2024, as a public holiday.
This decision was communicated in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Establishment, Pension, and Training, Hon. Auwal Manu-Dogondaji, and released to the press in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
The Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, from the APC party, has sanctioned a public holiday today, Friday, August 30, 2024.
This holiday is intended to allow the people to get ready for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, August 31, 2024.
The government’s choice to declare a public holiday is to ensure that citizens have ample time to prepare for the elections and participate in voting.
The Commissioner stated, “Therefore, we are calling on civil servants, as well as the entire members of the public to come out en masse and exercise their rights.”
He urged the citizens to uphold the current peace in the state and advised the voters to behave responsibly during and after the elections.
