Unidentified gunmen recently attacked the Ogbaru Local Government secretariat in Anambra State.
They arrived in a group during the early hours of Friday, August 30, and set several buildings on fire, including a town hall used by traditional rulers and some administrative facilities on the premises.
According to community sources, this recent incident marked the second attack in two months. The first attack reportedly occurred on June 15, 2024.
Although no casualties were reported, the gunmen allegedly fired shots randomly into the air, causing residents to flee for safety.
A source noted, “Gunmen numbering about 30 who emerged from the bush at about 5 am, chanted songs as they stormed the local government secretariat, shooting into the air.
“They trekked from their hideouts and got to Atani Magistrate Court located near the council and started setting some buildings within the council ablaze, including the main secretariat and traditional rulers’ buildings.”
