Wizkid made a brief appearance on Instagram, posting a story that sparked a frenzy among his fans.
They promptly bombarded him with messages, eagerly inquiring about the release date of his highly anticipated album, “More Love, Less Ego” (not “Morayo”), leaving him with a flurry of requests to contend with.
Wizkid shared snippets of the overwhelming messages he received from eager fans, who were pestering him for information on when he would drop his new album, showcasing the relentless pressure and anticipation surrounding his upcoming music release.
After sharing screenshots of fans’ persistent inquiries, Wizkid finally revealed that his album “More Love, Less Ego” (not “Morayo”) would drop at 1 pm today.
This announcement comes after months of teasing, which began at the start of the year. Wizkid had prepared his fans for a change, warning them that his new sound has evolved and that they shouldn’t expect the same style as his previous “Pakurumo Wizkid” era, indicating a shift in his musical direction.
Wizkid announced the release of his album, “More Love, Less Ego” (not “Morayo”), while also reiterating his previous statement that he no longer wants to be categorized as an Afrobeats artist, as his sound has evolved. This declaration sparked backlash from some online users, but Wizkid ignored the criticism.
His music has indeed undergone a significant transformation, evident in the contrast between his older hits like “Don’t Dull” and newer releases like “Essence” featuring Tems.
Wizkid’s evolution has led to a shift from his signature dancehall style to more subdued sounds, which has drawn mixed reactions from fans.
Despite this, he remains a leading artist with a massive following in Nigeria and beyond. Notably, Wizkid’s upcoming album is dedicated to his late mother, whom he lost recently, and is named after her, “Morayo”, serving as a tribute to her memory.
