Zamfara State Govt Vows To Boost Healthcare Infrastructure

Date:

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reiterated his commitment to improving healthcare services in the state through infrastructure development, as evident in the reconstruction of the 200-bed Talatan Mafara General Hospital.

At the inauguration ceremony, Governor Lawal emphasized that the state-of-the-art facility is a testament to his administration’s dedication to providing quality healthcare and enhancing medical infrastructure.

He also took the opportunity to criticize previous administrations for neglecting the healthcare sector, highlighting the need for improved investment in this critical area.

The event was graced by notable guests, including former Governor of old Sokoto State, Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim.

“By the will of Allah, I am here today to fulfil the promise I made a few months ago when I visited this hospital and the state university.”

He added, “Considering the sorry state of this health facility, I pledged to undertake its total reconstruction to provide a befitting general hospital for an expanding commercial town like Talata Mafara.”

Highlighting his administration’s priorities, Lawal emphasised, “Our administration has prioritized the revitalization of decaying infrastructure as a critical pillar of our transformational agenda. We have deliberately placed education and healthcare at the forefront, recognising their central roles in societal development.”

“This hospital is just one of many facilities being constructed to provide a conducive environment for delivering quality healthcare services.

“Our administration remains steadfast in its commitment to investing in the health sector, with a clear understanding of the crucial role that general hospitals play in the healthcare delivery system. They serve as the vital link between primary healthcare facilities and tertiary institutions.

“The project we are flagging off today involves the construction of a 200-bed capacity hospital and providing modern equipment to improve service delivery to the people. It will be completed within six months.”

Governor Lawal outlined the comprehensive facilities to be featured in the hospital, encompassing multiple wards, consulting rooms, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), pharmacy, X-ray unit, and other essential amenities.

Meanwhile, Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim commended Governor Lawal for his proactive approach to healthcare development, acknowledging his commitment to elevating the sector’s standards.

“I was amazed when the governor told me that all advanced equipment had already been procured for the general hospital and this is laudable.”
