Upon arriving in Kenya during a layover, Kim Oprah was stopped by immigration officials who insisted she obtain an ETA visa on arrival, despite her second citizenship typically allowing visa-free entry into Kenya and Tanzania.
The immigration authorities refused to recognize her second citizenship, instead demanding she use her Nigerian passport and obtain a visa, citing concerns that other African nationals were abusing the visa-free policy to engage in fraudulent activities.
Kim Oprah was eventually allowed to enter Kenya after applying for a visa on arrival, resolving the issue.
Kim Oprah described the encounter with Kenyan immigration as a frustrating and annoying experience that left her with a negative impression.
However, instead of receiving sympathy or understanding from online commenters, she faced criticism and ridicule for not doing her research before traveling and for her choice of attire while sharing her story.
