Omoni Oboli beams with pride as her 2019 movie hits major milestone on Netflix

Date:

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli is celebrating her latest milestone, proudly announcing her success on Netflix, and rightfully taking credit for her accomplishment.

Omoni Oboli shared on Instagram that her 2019 film, “Last Year Single”, remains a Netflix hit, holding the #1 spot in Nigeria and ranking top 10 in other countries, proudly declaring it a remarkable achievement that has withstood the test of time, even surpassing popular shows like “Prison Break”.

“Still the number one show on Netflix in Nigeria!!! Listen this is no mean feat! Prison break couldn’t break us! Even though it was top 10 in other countries. So thankful for you guys keeping us on top. Getting into the 3rd week!

My big question is ‘What does Afua @bimboademoye really want?!!!’

The only person I feel bad for amongst them is Tamtam @iamtonitones. Only one clear about her aspirations yet it’s just not working.

If you haven’t watched LAST YEAR SINGLE on Netflix. Take this as your sign to go watch! The truth is, you will see yourself or at least your friends in one of the characters. A past experience or a current reality. You will learn a lot too!

It’s fun, flirty, chaotic, and sexy

Last 2 slides got us feeling ourselves”

Nollywood is currently experiencing a surge in female empowerment, with 2024 marking a breakout year for women in film, as numerous female producers and filmmakers achieve significant milestones and make impactful strides in the industry.

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Wumi Toriola recently celebrated two major milestones: one of her movies surpassing 4 million views on YouTube in just a month, and her channel reaching 100,000 subscribers, a feat she described as monumental. She praised her team’s hard work and the strong bond they’ve built with their audience, expressing delight and gratitude for their support.

Actress Bimbo Ademoye celebrated her movie “Last Straw” reaching 8 million YouTube views in under a month, while Funke Akindele made history as the first Nigerian filmmaker to break the N1 billion box office barrier with “A Tr!be Called Judah”, grossing N1.4 billion.

Akindele’s recent films – “A Tr!be Called Judah”, “Battle On Buka Street”, and “Omo Ghetto The Saga” – have become the highest-grossing Nollywood films, solidifying her position as one of the industry’s most successful and hardworking professionals.

Moreso, Mercy Aigbe achieved remarkable success with her debut cinematic production, “Ada Omo Daddy”, which resonated with Nigerian audiences and grossed N180.7 million, securing its spot as the 3rd highest-grossing movie. This accomplishment is particularly notable considering the competitive landscape dominated by industry heavyweights like Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.
