The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially responded to Senator Monday Okpebholo’s win as Governor-Elect in the September 21, 2024, Edo State gubernatorial election.

The party has congratulated Senator Okpebholo on his victory, stating that it was well-earned.

In the highly contested governorship race, Senator Okpebholo, representing the APC, emerged as the winner, surpassing his main rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the APC candidate secured 291,667 votes, while Ighodalo garnered 247,274 votes.

In a statement released by the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Monday evening, the party informed the Governor-Elect that his triumph affirmed that his message of optimism and renewal resonated with the people of Edo State.

This announcement followed Olumide Akpata of the LP coming in a far third with 22,761 votes in the election.

The party added, “It is also an indication of the implicit confidence in the transformational leadership of the APC-led federal government and its Renewed Hope agenda envisioned to bring our country into true greatness and enduring prosperity.”

According to the ruling party’s perspective, the win once more demonstrates President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to democracy by guaranteeing fair competition, thereby enabling the electoral success.

Furthermore, commendations were extended to the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Assembly, Progressive Governors, leaders, and numerous members for their unwavering support towards the party and the successful candidate.

The ruling party also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its professionalism and acknowledged the law enforcement agencies for their outstanding dedication throughout the election process.

An appreciation was extended to the voters of Edo State for choosing their candidate, expressing confidence that Senator Okpebholo’s governance will initiate a fresh chapter marked by peace, development focused on the people, and prosperity for the state.
