PDP NWC infiltrated by APC members, made us lose Edo election – Dino Melaye

Date:

Dino Melaye, the former Senator representing Kogi West, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of infiltrating the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun.

Melaye raised these allegations after the PDP’s loss in the recent Edo State gubernatorial election. In his post on X, the politician voiced his apprehensions about the PDP’s trajectory, cautioning that under Damagun’s leadership, the party is on a path towards ruin.

Melaye stated, “With the destroyer called Damagun on the wheels, PDP is in the departure lounge waiting for the boarding pass.”

He also implied that the loss in Edo marked just the start, indicating that there are more APC supporters within the PDP’s NWC than actual PDP members.

In the recent Edo State election, the PDP contender Asue Ighodalo was defeated by the APC’s Monday Okpebholo. INEC reported that Ighodalo received 247,274 votes, while Okpebholo emerged victorious with 291,667 votes.

Melaye has consistently expressed his dissatisfaction with Damagun’s leadership, previously alleging that Damagun has been undermining the party’s established principles.

He remarked that the current conditions within the PDP under Damagun’s supervision would deeply disturb the party’s founding figures like Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Tony Anenih, and others, suggesting that they would be greatly disappointed by the party’s current state.
