The Akwa Ibom police are ready for the upcoming October 1 protests in the state and are prepared to handle any trouble that may arise. They have deployed officers strategically to prevent the protests from happening or getting out of control.
The police spokesperson, Timfon John, assured that the State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has placed officers in key locations across the state. Their goal is to stop the protests from happening, and if they do occur, to stop any chaos from breaking out.
She advised the people of the state to carry on with their usual activities without worrying about being bothered. The police have taken steps to ensure everyone’s safety and protection.
She stated, “As regards the rumoured protest, the truth is that the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has made the necessary deployments to that effect and the command is making sure that by the grace of God, there is no protest in Akwa Ibom State and if at all there will be, it is going to be a peaceful one, where the hoodlums will not have the opportunity to hijack and make it violent to disrupt the peace and comfort being enjoyed in the state.
“We are ready, battle ready. We have tight security, and unlike the last protest, people should go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation because we have put in necessary security to ensure that the peace in the state is maintained.”
The upcoming protest is tagged #FearlessInOctober1 and is a follow-up to the #Endbadgovernance protest that took place in several states nationwide between August 1 and 10.
