The Edo House of Assembly has confirmed the return of the two remaining suspended lawmakers, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, after a five-month suspension.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the assembly had suspended Donald Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Adeh Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) on May 6 for supposedly planning to impeach the Speaker and other top officials.
But Bright Iyamu was reinstated in June after showing regret, as stated by the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.
Agbebaku, during the assembly meeting in Benin on Wednesday, declared that the assembly had decided to lift the suspension of the two remaining lawmakers. He praised the newly elected governor of the state, Monday Okpebholo, for his win in the recent governorship election.
The speaker highlighted that the governor-elect is meant to serve all people in Edo, not just the All Progressives Congress (APC), and expressed a wish that he wouldn’t be misled by flatterers.
During the return of members from an extended break, Agbebaku appreciated the legislators for their dedicated work in passing significant laws and resolutions. During the meeting, the assembly agreed on a schedule of 57 days for meetings in the second quarter of its second session.
