TY Danjuma Foundation Donates Modern Morgue To FMC Jalingo

Date:

On Thursday, a former Minister of Defense, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.), inaugurated a modern mortuary facility that he donated to the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo.

This advanced facility, outfitted with top-tier preservation technology, aims to resolve longstanding issues faced by the hospital.

During the inauguration, Danjuma highlighted the necessity of maintaining the facility, stating, “We don’t have a maintenance culture in this country. You have to maintain this facility to serve society better.”

He urged the hospital administration to ensure that the equipment stays in excellent condition for many years.

The seasoned statesman shared that his inspiration to construct the morgue originated from a personal incident, where the body of his personal lawyer’s mother was inadequately preserved at the hospital.

“At the point of evacuation for the burial, the corpse was not in good shape. When I heard the story, I directed my white engineer to come up with a proposal using the best equipment in the world.”

Despite delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Danjuma expressed his appreciation for the project’s completion, mentioning that it would enhance service delivery at the facility.

Earlier, Dr. Aisha Adamu, the Medical Director of FMC Jalingo, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generous contribution. She lauded General Danjuma’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, especially his support for the healthcare sector.

“This facility is a game-changer for us, and we pledge to make the best use of it,” she stated, assuring that the hospital management would prioritize its maintenance.

Taraba State’s Commissioner for Health, Bordiya Buma, praised General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma for his foresight and generosity in providing a state-of-the-art facility that he claimed will significantly enhance how the hospital preserves deceased bodies and improve medical research and training.

“With the provision of modern equipment and essential services, this facility will serve as a vital support to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, ensuring professional mortuary services and contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare delivery in our state.

“On behalf of the entire health sector of Taraba State, we express our profound gratitude to General TY Danjuma for his steadfast support and investment in our people. His contributions have set a standard for others to follow, and we are truly blessed to have him as a champion of healthcare development in our state.”

Buma also expressed appreciation for Governor Agbu Kefas, commending his leadership and dedication to enhancing the health and well-being of the populace. He noted that the governor’s vision for a healthier Taraba drives transformative projects and reassured the citizens of positive changes in the years ahead.
