Cheryl Ann Tweedy was born on June 30, 1983, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. She grew up with her parents, Gary Tweedy and Joan Callaghan.

As the fourth of five siblings, Cheryl has three brothers and a sister: Gillian Callaghan, Andrew Tweedy, Joseph Callaghan, and Garry Tweedy.

She studied at the renowned Royal Ballet School in England. Cheryl identifies as White and follows the Christian faith.
