A businesswoman named Rukaiyyat collapsed after losing N2.3 million at the Abaji main market in the Federal Capital Territory.
An onlooker mentioned that the woman, who is a small-scale trader from Auchi, was at the market to purchase farm produce when she realized her money was missing.
The unexpected incident occurred on Friday, leaving everyone shocked and concerned, according to the witness.
The witness explained that the woman was packing melons and groundnuts into sacks when the money went missing.
The eyewitness stated, “She was about to pay to traders when she noticed that her money had gone.”
He added, “She actually kept the money, which according to her was N2.3 million, cash inside a sack and as she was measuring melon and groundnut, the sack containing the money suddenly got missing.
Another person who saw what happened said that the woman was loudly crying while explaining that she had borrowed money in Edo to start a business.
After that, other traders in the market tried to help the businesswoman recover. Later, another woman who tried to comfort the victim started crying too when she realized that half of her maize sack was also missing.
