Nollywood actor, Ejike Asiegbu, has expressed regret and apologized to the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, for slamming him online.
This comes after actress Uche Nnanna-Maduka made a video on social media, where she slammed Governor Uzodinma for a power outage at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Imo.
The video also featured other actors such as Ejike Asiegbu, Fred Amata, Gloria Nobert Young, Grace Amah, and Keppy Ekpenyong.
blasting Uzodinma’s government, Nnanna-Maduka expressed that they were informed to collect their belongings at the facility due to a lack of electricity at Imo Airport.
This situation is highly inappropriate and cannot be tolerated, especially considering it is happening in Nigeria in the year 2024.
“Who is ruling this state? What are we doing? In 2024 no lights at the airport. Imo state, shame on you. See our Sam Mbakwe Airport. Hope Uzodinma, look at us.”
In response to the video, the main spokesperson for the governor, Oguwuike Nwachuku, wrote an article in a newspaper claiming that Nnanna-Maduka was employed to create it.
As a response, actor Asiegbu issued a widely spread statement on Thursday, apologizing on behalf of his fellow actors and slamming Nwachukwu’s comments as disrespectful and unprofessional behavior.
He said; “I most respectfully apologise on behalf of my colleague Uchenna Maduka to my brother, friend, elder statesman, and governor, Chief Dr. Hope Uzodinma for the embarrassment this video may have caused him. Let me state for the records that we are men and women of honour and integrity. We are not swayed by apples and carrots as Mr. Oguwike has maliciously adduced.”
Afterwards, Nnanna-Maduka allegedly expressed remorse for recording the video.
