Omobayo receives 500 APC, LP’s defectors for Ighodalo

Date:

In Edo State’s Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Deputy Governor Godwins Omobayo received over 500 individuals who defected from the opposition parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP).

Omobayo believes that this significant increase in supporters will greatly benefit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the forthcoming September 21 governorship election.

Omobayo, who had the support of Yekini Idaiye, the member representing Akoko-Edo I in the state House of Assembly, along with Tajudeen Alade, the Chairman of the council, and other leaders, expressed that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has become a source of pride for the people of Edo.

They attributed this to the impressive accomplishments of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration over the past seven and a half years.

Omobayo said, “Akoko-Edo is a PDP stronghold and the formidable pair of the PDP candidate, lghodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, has become an attraction to well-meaning citizens and residents of the state, they are the symbol of continuity and consolidation of the Obaseki-led administration.”

He encouraged them to work together with other party members to convince those who are still in their previous parties to vote for Ighodalo and Ogie.

Representing the defectors, former APC leader of Ward 5, Ibrahim Lamidi, along with Labour Party leaders Matthias Igodifo and Ojeh Ojishua, stated that the PDP is the only party capable of bringing the benefits of democracy to the people of Dangbala and Edo State as a whole.

They pledged to ensure that Ward 5 supports the PDP, as it is the best way to show appreciation for Governor Obaseki’s positive contributions and visionary leadership.

In addition, the Deputy Governor also welcomed a group of defectors from Ekpesa, led by Lucky Adesina, the former youth leader of the APC in that area.
