Dr. George Moghalu, the former Director General of the National Inland Waterway Authority (NIWA), has officially declared his intention to participate in the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.
This confirmation was made during his interaction with journalists at his residence in Nnewi. With this announcement, any previous rumors or uncertainties about his candidacy for the upcoming election have been resolved.
In response to speculations suggesting that he has abandoned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. George Moghalu clarified that he is currently engaged in consultations to determine the political platform on which he will contest.
He stated, “Yes, I am interested in vying for the governorship of Anambra state. But I must stress that I am not desperate
“Power belongs to God and He gives to whomever that pleases Him at any time. If it pleases Him, using the people of Anambra State to make me their governor, well, to Him be the glory. I am willing and ready to serve.”
When questioned about the previous unresolved governorship primary of the APC in the state, which had reached the Supreme Court, and whether he is confident that the party will handle it better this time, Dr. George Moghalu stated that he is currently in the process of extensive consultations.
Moghalu emphasized that both the candidate and the political platform are crucial and significant factors in any election. He verified that he is carefully considering his options and taking his time to select the political platform he will use for the upcoming election.
