Buba Galadima, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), advised President Bola Tinubu to pay attention to the political dynamics in Kano State.Galadima made this statement during an interview with Arise Television on Monday.
He said,” Both the federal government and President Bola Tinubu should exercise caution when dealing with Kano politics, as it could potentially harm his presidency.
He criticized federal intervention in Kano’s politics, particularly regarding chieftaincy titles. He emphasized the resilience and determination of Kano’s people. He also shared a sense of hopelessness about witnessing the Nigeria he imagined for future generations, stating that his political shifts were driven by principles rather than personal gain.
Talking about past elections, Galadima described how the NNPP triumphed over their opponents despite facing manipulation and forceful tactics used against them. He stressed the need to protect democracy despite its imperfections and warned against creating state police, which he believed would lead to the country’s breakup. He criticized the current legislature for being comprised of businessmen instead of true legislators.
Galadima expressed disappointment with the electorate, stating, “I’m disappointed that people would trade their votes for a small reward like a 200 naira packet of noodles.” He also expressed disillusionment with both leaders and the masses, noting that even seemingly principled individuals often change when they come into power.
