Ubi Franklin, a talent manager, fiercely responded to an online troll who mocked him for his close relationship with Davido’s family, particularly his affection for the singer’s children.
Franklin stood up for himself, defending his genuine connection with the family and shutting down the troll’s negative comments.
During a Q&A session, a troll asked Ubi Franklin a condescending question, implying that he was overstepping his boundaries by being closely involved with Davido’s family, suggesting that he was essentially acting as a “nanny” to the singer, his wife, and their children.
This prompted Ubi Franklin to respond assertively and defend his genuine connection with the family.
“Why are you a nanny? You know they shame?” the troll wrote.
Replying, Ubi stated that he knows the troll is interested in the world, and he would help him to appeal to the singer to hire him.
“I know say you wan collect this work; no worry, send me a DM, make I help you make them hire you.
Why you dey beef naw, Oya come collect the work of.
I no go block you; I go dey pepper you dey go”.
Another had questioned why he was obsessed with the family and not his own.
“Why are you obsessed with the Adelekes and not your own family?”.
Ubi Franklin responded to the troll by saying that his love and dedication to Davido’s family (the Adelekes) stems from his own strong family values.
He emphasized that if he didn’t prioritize his own family, he wouldn’t be so invested in someone else’s.
He explained that in his culture, taking care of one’s own family comes first, and since the Adelekes are like family to him, he naturally extends that same love and support to them.
“If I weren’t obsessed with my own family, you would not see that I’m obsessed with another person. Where I come from, we take care of home before we go outside. It’s family first, and the Adelekes are my family, so we do family first.
In the world today, we just need healing because someone shows love to his friends, and it’s a big problem; go and find someone to be obsessed. Leave me with my friends and my family alone, please”.
Ubi Franklin was given the nickname “babysitter” or “nanny” due to his close relationship with Davido’s late son, Ifeanyi, after photos showed him caring for the child.
Despite the teasing, Ubi embraced the label, saying others would be eager to have such a role. He has a deep connection with Davido’s family, particularly Chioma, whom he began managing in 2018.
Over time, Chioma became like a sister to him, and he has come to love and respect her and her family, who have also become his own.
He has never met anyone who has had a negative experience with Chioma, and he has been a constant support to the couple, even penning a heartfelt note to them on their wedding day.
