‘Say no to bully’– Ibrahim Chatta, Afeez Owo, & others support Toyin Abraham

Date:

The Yoruba film industry is expressing solidarity with their colleague, Toyin Abraham, who is facing criticism on social media for apprehending a harasser.

The filmmaker is facing backlash for apprehending one of her online harassers and keeping him in police custody for a period of time.

One of the harassers had accused the actress of detaining his mother, a claim that the actress denied by explaining that the mother chose to stay at the police station due to her son’s arrest.

As a result, many Nigerians reported her to the streaming platform Netflix, urging them to remove her movies.

Netizens called for a boycott of her movies and demanded that the streaming platform take a strong stance against her actions.

In support of Toyin, many of her colleagues took to their Instagram pages to defend her.

Ibrahim Chatta wrote a message to Toyin, expressing his appreciation for her stance against bullying in all its forms.

“Hello Mrs Ajeyemi (Mummy Ire) @toyin_abraham
Thanks so much for speaking against bullying in all its forms, aspects and shapes. Olohun A wo omo re o, e ni ti o je gbi, kii ku gbi.
GOD gat u, and I love u wholeheartedly”.

Afeez Owo shared a post from Yinka Quadri, in which he encouraged actors to come together and oppose bullying, emphasizing that emotional manipulation is not something to be taken lightly.

Allwell Ademola expressed her observation of the inconsistent treatment on social media.

She questioned why it is deemed acceptable to bully celebrities, but when they respond, they are labeled as petty and bullies.

“This social media and double standards. Sometimes I just wonder, so it’s okay to lie, insult, abuse, and bully a celebrity, but if the celebrity reacts, she’s petty and a bully, Abi? Koboru

Everybody get blood, celeb or not. We can actually do better”.

Afeez Owo and Ibrahim Chatta express their support for Toyin Abraham. Recently, Alesh Sanni pointed out the extreme bitterness and frustration of some Nigerians who are looking to recruit others into their negative mindset.

He highlighted how they relentlessly bullied Toyin, even going as far as cursing her child and inciting harm towards her.

However, when Toyin took action against one of her attackers, she faced backlash.

Veteran actor Saidi Balogun slammed those who were trolling Toyin, pointing out the hypocrisy of people using the police to settle personal disputes but turning it into a bullying issue when it involves a celebrity.

Balogun defended his fellow colleagues in the entertainment industry, stating that they should be allowed to act without judgment, just as netizens are free to express their opinions.

Biola Bayo shared her unsuccessful attempts to reach out to Toyin and expressed her prayers for Toyin’s strength and resilience during this challenging time, hoping that her light will always shine bright.
