The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has decided to halt any requests for changes in project costs from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). This decision was made after discussing the memoranda presented by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, during the council’s meeting on Wednesday.
According to Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, who provided a briefing to reporters after the meeting, along with Justice Minister Lateef Fagbemi and Budget and Economic Planning Minister Atiku Bagudu, the decision was made to temporarily set aside the memoranda. This was done to allow for a thorough examination and evaluation of the projects.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, acknowledged that a significant number of the projects under discussion were initiated by previous administrations. As a result, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has instructed the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Works to collaborate and ensure that these projects adhere to the allocated budgetary provisions.
The primary objective of this review is to address the issue of unfinished projects across the country. Idris confirmed that the council will resume the examination of the memoranda during its next meeting.
