81 Victims Of The Jos School Tragedy Have Been Released From The Hospital

More than 81 casualties of the Saints Academy school tragedy in Jos, Plateau State have been released from the different hospitals where they were receiving treatment.

The school, consisting of both secondary and primary sections, collapsed on a Friday while students were in the middle of their third-term exams.

Naijatraffic discovered that, Dr. Abel Izang, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at Plateau Specialist Hospital, shared this update during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos.

He mentioned that out of the initial 39 patients hospitalized on the day of the incident, 23 have been discharged, while two were transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital because of spinal cord injuries.

Additionally, five patients who are still receiving care at the hospital are reported to be in stable condition. Professor Steve Anzaku, the Chief Medical Director of Bingham University Teaching Hospital, reported that out of the 55 individuals brought to their facility, 23 have been discharged, with the rest in stable condition.

Furthermore, Mrs. Chioma Ofodille, the Public Relations Officer of Our Lady of Apostles Hospital, stated that 23 out of the 32 patients treated there have been discharged, and the remaining nine are in stable condition.

Dr. Josiah Njem, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at Jos University Teaching Hospital, confirmed that the six victims brought to the hospital were in stable condition.

Thankfully, no additional deaths were reported from the four hospitals involved in treating the victims.

Earlier reports from the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Musa Ashoms, indicated that 154 individuals were rescued from the debris, 22 lost their lives, and six were in critical condition.
