Taraba government appoints five judges

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, administered the oath of office to five recently appointed judges for the state high court and the Customary Court of Appea on Wednesday.The swearing-in took place at the Government House in Jalingo.

Kefas expressed his congratulations to the appointees, highlighting that their selection demonstrated the faith and trust placed in them by the people of Taraba State.

He said, “The judiciary is the cornerstone of society. As judges, your decisions are crucial in protecting the rights of the people.

” You must perform your duties with the utmost responsibility and professionalism. Justice should be given to people who deserve justice and not the other way round.

“Your decisions have a significant impact on the lives of citizens and efforts must be made to ensure that justice is served to all.”

He emphasized once again the strong commitment of his administration to supporting the judiciary, stressing its crucial role in fostering economic growth and ensuring equitable treatment in society. He made a firm promise to maintain the provision of essential resources to enable the judiciary to operate efficiently.

Justice Hamidu Audu, Justice Joel Ubandoma, and Justice Jennifer Bibonga were sworn in for the state’s high court, while Justice Esther Tata and Justice Benjamin Abwage were sworn in for the Customary Court of Appeal. Justice Audu, speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in judges, thanked the governor and promised to carry out their duties diligently.

The Governor appointed retired General Jeremiah Faransa as the chairman of the Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service during the ceremony. He urged the board to find new ways to generate revenue and expressed confidence in their abilities.
