Nigerian artist Rema has playfully declined to pick a specific country as the ultimate maker of the finest jollof rice.
A video shared on Instagram by The People Gallery captured the singer being interviewed during the Louis Vuitton S/S Mens2025 show in Paris, France on June 19, 2024.
When questioned about the designer of his attire, Rema replied, “My outfit is from LV, I had a varsity jacket too, but I removed it,” as he showcased his clothing.
The host asked, “If you could pick anybody as talented as you, who would it be?”
The singer responded, “Black is safe.”
Rema was also questioned about his preferred food, and he replied, “Jollof rice.”
“Who has the best jollof rice? I’m from Liberia,” the host asked.
While laughing, Rema made it clear that he had no interest in participating in the online debate about which African country makes the best jollof rice.
“You know, that’s one discussion I really don’t want to have. The jollof rice battle is one I don’t want to be a part of,” he said.
“What’s your favourite song right now? And what’s your star sign?” asked the host.
“Charm by me,” the singer revealed with a wide grin before adding, “I was born May first so I’m a Taurus.”
Burna Boy, a popular singer, was interviewed at a high-profile fashion event where other African music stars such as Wizkid, Tems, Uncle Waffles, and Adekunle Gold were also present.
Many videos on social media captured the friendly conversations between the artists at the event, and there was another video showing Rema exchanging greetings with Jacob Arabo, the co-owner of Jacob & Co.
