Nollywood actress Funke Akindele acknowledges Dbanj’s support for her and her Jenifa brand with heartfelt gratitude.
At the premiere of Everybody Loves Jenifa, Funke Akindele expressed her gratitude to Dbanj, revealing that he had put his own project on hold to support her, despite having a prior commitment that required his travel; moreover, he did so without charging her a fee.
“A big thank you to Bangalee; he was supposed to travel for a project. I begged and begged and begged. He told his guys to cut the project, and he would do this for me, and he did it at no cost”.
This is not the first instance of Funke Akindele publicly acknowledging Dbanj’s significant contributions to her success.
Previously, at his anniversary dinner in June, she shared how Dbanj’s encouragement and financial support helped her sustain the popular Jenifa brand. Dbanj’s faith in Funke and her brand has yielded remarkable results, catapulting her to become the Queen of Box Office.
Her historic achievement in January, where her 2023 film A Tribe Called Judah grossed over N1.4 billion, solidifies her position as one of Nollywood’s most diligent and accomplished filmmakers.
Funke Akindele revealed that her self-funded project, Everybody Loves Jenifa, provided empowerment opportunities for 175 crew members, comprising 95% young individuals, who worked diligently for nine weeks to bring the movie to fruition.
