Abia state health commissioner submits resignation letter after suspension by Governor Otti

Date:

Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, the former Health Commissioner of Abia State who was suspended by Governor Alex Otti on June 11, 2024, due to accusations of financial impropriety, has now tendered her resignation.

This decision follows the initiation of a probe committee to investigate the alleged misconduct. The decision to resign stems from her suspension on June 11, 2024, based on alleged financial misconduct, which subsequently led to the formation of a committee tasked with investigating the matter.

In an official announcement, Governor Alex Otti’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ukoha Njoku, verified that Governor Otti has approved Okoronkwo’s resignation.

The Governor extended appreciation for her dedication and recognized her efforts in revitalizing the state’s healthcare sector.

“The suspended Abia State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, has tendered her resignation letter to the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

“The Governor, while accepting her resignation, thanked Dr. Okoronkwo for her services to our dear State and her modest achievements in repositioning the Health Sector for better service delivery in the last one year. He wished her well in her future endeavours,” the statement read.
