Actress Motilola makes u-turn as she tenders apology following backlash over her brutal criticism of House of Ga’a

Nollywood actress Motilola Akinlami has apologized for her negative review of the historical movie “House of Ga’a”, directed by Bolanle Austen Peters.

Her initial critique, which has since been deleted, was met with backlash from fans who thought she was trying to discredit the filmmaker’s work.

The movie, a historical action drama set in the Oyo Empire, features an ensemble cast including Femi Adebayo, Toyin Abraham, and Funke Akindele.

Motilola’s apology comes after she realized her comments may have been misinterpreted as an attempt to undermine the film’s success.

Motilola Akinlami clarified on Instagram that her previous criticism of “House of Ga’a” was misunderstood. She assured that she didn’t intend to belittle the filmmakers’ efforts, as that’s not her nature.

Instead, she acknowledged the hard work and skill that went into creating the movie and explained that she was simply sharing her personal observation, which she later retracted.

Motilola praised the movie as a great work with unique elements, admitting that she only saw it from her perspective, for which she apologized. She concluded by saying that people have different opinions and approaches.

“Apologies are in order as regards a post I did last week. After due reflection, I realised how that post may have been misconstrued to mean I was trying to bring down someone’s hard work.

That, in fact isn’t the case. It’s not in my character. I recognise the hard work and skill that went into putting together that beautiful work of Art.

I merely made an observation that I took down about 2 mins after I read it again and had a conversation with a couple of people. I see how that may have sounded the way it did.

Having said that, HOUSE OF GA’A is a great movie that has its own flavours and add-ons, as there are many sides to a coin.

I only saw my own side, and for this, I apologise

Motilola Akinlami recently spoke out against her senior colleague Kunle Afod and his wife Desola, accusing them of sabotaging her career and spreading false allegations about her on social media.

In a heartfelt video, Motilola shared her experiences of being mistreated by colleagues due to Kunle’s interference and pleaded with him to stop defaming her, as she no longer wants a relationship with him.

She also revealed how they attempted to break her spirit, but she’s thankful to have overcome the challenges with God’s help.
