Akande desires for APC to return to power in Osun

Chief Bisi Akande, a former governor of Osun State, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to make the party stronger for the upcoming 2026 governorship election.The APC lost power in the state during the governorship election in July 2022, which was won by Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

At a meeting in Ila, Chief Bisi Akande and other party leaders chose Mr. Gboyega Oyetola as the leader of the APC in Osun State. The meeting was attended by notable individuals such as Senator Ajibola Basiru and Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun.After the meeting, a statement was released and signed by Osun APC Chairman Tajudeen Lawal. The stakeholders stressed the importance of party unity and urged members to exclude disloyal individuals from the electronic registration. They also called on party leaders and members to avoid causing divisions. Chief Adebisi Akande specifically encouraged everyone to strengthen the party for the 2026 governorship election and formally appoint a leader for the party in the state.

After Senator Ajibola Basiru proposed and Pa Gbadebo Ajao seconded, the party leaders and stakeholders unanimously chose His Excellency, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, as the leader of the party in the state. The meeting stressed the significance of unity and enhancing the party, urging leaders and members to avoid anything that causes division.

Moreover, party members were advised not to allow disloyal individuals to take part in the e-registration process.
