Amanda Benedicta Antony, a proud Xhosa woman, was born in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa on July 24, 1993.

She spent her early years in Butterworth and East London before eventually settling in Port Elizabeth.

Amanda attended Kabega Christian School in Port Elizabeth for her high school education and then went on to study Music Education at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

CAREER

Her musical journey began when she started singing in church and school as a child.

However, it wasn’t until she was 12 years old that she started participating in talent competitions, where she refined her skills and gained valuable experience performing on stage.

After taking part in multiple seasons of Idols South Africa, Amanda Black won the hearts of fans during Season 11 and made it to the top 7.

Eager to pursue her music career, she moved to Johannesburg in January 2016, where she was discovered by Ambitiouz Entertainment and offered a recording contract.

On July 1, 2016, Amanda released her debut single “Amazulu,” which quickly became popular and garnered over 4 million views on YouTube.

In November of the same year, Amanda achieved great success with the release of her album “Amazulu”, receiving high praise from critics and achieving commercial success by selling over 31,000 copies in less than a month.
