Recently wed Nigerian singer and socialite Yhemo Lee shared heartfelt wisdom on the true definition of love.
On Snapchat, Yhemo Lee shared his unconventional view of true love, asserting that a woman genuinely in love shouldn’t ask her partner for financial support, but rather, show her devotion by contributing financially to the relationship.
“Any girl wey love you no suppose dey ask you for money. Na she suppose dey give you. That’s love”.
Yhemo Lee previously advised men to temporarily curb their womanizing tendencies due to Nigeria’s challenging economic state, suggesting that the financial strain makes it difficult to sustain multiple relationships.
Relatedly, Yoruba actress Opeyemi Aiyeola offered words of wisdom to those in relationships, cautioning against relying solely on emotions. She emphasized the importance of rational thinking, urging individuals to engage their brains and avoid letting infatuation or “jagbajantis” (a colloquial term for reckless passion) cloud their judgment.
Going on, Caroline Danjuma urged women to prioritize self-development and financial independence, warning that in Nigeria’s societal dynamics, economic power often tilts the balance of relationships. She emphasized the importance of self-love, self-protection, and discernment, as she went ahead to advise women to, Know their worth, set boundaries, Avoid hasty decisions and rioritize emotional well-being. This, she said, would empower them to make informed choices, avoid toxic relationships, and prevent unnecessary heartache.
Toke Makinwa clarified a misconception about her views on men and marriage, stating that she’s often mislabeled as a man-hater or basher. In reality, she values marriage and loves the idea of being married.
However, she criticized the modern approach to relationships, where people are often disposable and material possessions are prioritized over emotional investments. She lamented that today’s society treats individuals as replaceable.
