The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has issued a warning to suspend Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, citing allegations of engaging in activities against the party.
This caution came from the party’s National Working Committee under the leadership of Edozie Njoku on Wednesday, September 25.
During a press briefing in Abuja, Edozie Njoku, the national chairman of APGA, accused the governor of impeding the efforts of the NWC acknowledged by the Supreme Court to bring unity back to the party.
Edozie stated that the party’s National Working Committee would announce on Thursday the names of Soludo and any other members engaged in actions contrary to the party’s interests.
He stated, “The local government elections are going to take place in Anambra on the 28th but what we should understand about this is that Charles Soludo, the governor, I don’t know, he should know that it’s a political system he’s not an emperor.”
“He (Soludo) has gone forward to get the House of Assembly to adopt, to make a law whereby the party cannot field their candidates.”
He further mentioned that the governor and his allies proceeded to support their chosen candidate outside of the party’s directives.
“They are pushing us far to the limit, and they are believing that the governor of Anambra State is bigger than the party.
While hghlighting that no individual is above the party, Njoku emphasized that the NWC must act to avoid appearing powerless and ineffectual.
He added, “This is a political party, and APGA is here to stay.”
