The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reversed the prohibition preventing three prominent members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from participating in the party’s National Executive Committee gatherings.
These three Chieftains namely ex-PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, former Rivers State Governor Celestine Omehia, and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Austin Opara, were initially restricted from partaking in the meetings following a ruling by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court.
In a decision reached unanimously on Friday, the appellate court invalidated the previous orders, stating that the lower court had exceeded its jurisdiction by involving itself in the internal affairs of the party.
The court emphasized that determining who can participate in the party’s meetings falls under the internal jurisdiction of the PDP and is not within the court’s purview to decide.
