Many security officers from the DSS and police have surrounded the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights office in Ikeja, Lagos. They are at Rights House on Adeniyi Jones Avenue for a planned public gathering and candlelight march on Friday.
This event is part of the #EndBadGovernance protests and is meant to honor those who died due to bad governance in Nigeria.
The organizers asked the public to come dressed in black and bring candles to the event. The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights had previously demanded the government to reverse the removal of fuel subsidies during the ongoing protests against bad governance.
In a statement released on Sunday, the CDHR expressed disappointment with the president’s recent speech, saying it lacked clear deadlines for the promises made.
They criticized the speech for focusing too much on the government’s achievements, which they believe have not made a real difference in the lives of Nigerians yet.
