Darold Durard Brown Ferguson Jr., better known as ASAP Ferg, was born on October 20, 1988, and is an American rapper hailing from Harlem, New York City.

He is a prominent member of the ASAP Mob and secured a record deal with Polo Grounds and RCA Records in January 2013, the same labels that helped establish ASAP Worldwide.

Darold Durard Brown, known as Ferg, was born on October 20, 1988, in Harlem, New York City, and grew up in Hamilton Heights with Trinidadian heritage.

His father, Darold Ferguson, owned a boutique that catered to music artists, which sparked Ferg’s early passion for clothing design.

After his father’s death, Ferg launched his own clothing and jewelry brands.

In 2005, he introduced “Devoni Clothing,” creating exclusive belts that were worn by celebrities such as Chris Brown and Swizz Beatz.

In 2009, Ferg shifted his focus from painting and fashion design to an aggressive hip-hop style known as trap.

He described “trapping” as hustling, and his commitment to excellence earned him the nickname “Trap Lord.”

A$AP Rocky, a friend from high school, encouraged Ferg to pursue a career in rap, leading them to form the A$AP Mob.

Together, they created tracks like “Get High” and “Ghetto Symphony.”

Ferg gained significant attention with his debut single “Work,” released in August 2012, which garnered over 2 million views on its music video.

He announced his album “Trap Lord” in January 2013, which reflected his life experiences and ambitions.

After signing with RCA Records and Polo Grounds, Ferg collaborated with various artists on remixes and released his album in August 2013.

The album debuted at number 9 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 46,000 copies in the United States, and earned him the title of “Rookie of the Year” at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Ferg toured with Playboi Carti and collaborated with Lost Kings and Ally Brooke on the single “Look At Us Now.”

Since 2015, Ferg has been touring with his DJ, TJ Mizell, the son of the late Jam Master Jay.

In 2018, he appeared in a Tiffany’s advertisement alongside Elle Fanning, remixing “Moon River,” and also narrated the Adidas World Cup commercial titled ‘Creativity is the Answer.’

In 2020, Ferg teamed up with Matt Sweeney to create a track for Run The Jewels’ album, RTJ4.

Although there were speculations about Ferg departing from A$AP Mob in September 2020, A$AP Nast took to Twitter to confirm that Ferg remained a member of the group.

On September 25, 2020, Ferg released his fifth album, “Floor Seats II,” which included collaborations with artists like Marilyn Manson, Dennis Rodman, and Mulatto.

In October 2021, he announced that he would be dropping the “A$AP” from his name and would continue his solo career as FERG. He released his first single, “MDMX,” in May 2024.

PERSONAL LIFE

Ferg’s father, sadly passed away from kidney failure.

Ferg has been in a relationship with popular photographer Renell Medrano for over five years.
